A solemn funeral ceremony was held on Wednesday in Minab, southern Iran, for 34 victims whose remains were identified months after the strike on Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School. According to Iranian media, forensic experts confirmed the identities through DNA testing after recovering the remains from beneath the collapsed school building. Hundreds of mourners gathered to offer funeral prayers before carrying the Iranian flag-draped coffins through the city’s streets in an emotional procession.

Following the funeral prayers, the victims were buried at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Minab as grieving families and local residents paid their final respects. Videos released by Iranian news agencies showed large crowds participating in the ceremony, reflecting the deep impact the tragedy has had on the community. The school was struck on February 28, the first day of the conflict, and Iranian authorities have described the attack as one of the deadliest civilian incidents of the war.

Iranian officials say more than 168 children and teachers were killed in the strike on the elementary school. Tehran has accused the United States and Israel of carrying out the attack as part of a joint military operation launched on February 28. However, neither the United States nor Israel has publicly confirmed Iran’s account of the incident or accepted responsibility for the strike.
