A tragic incident occurred in Gundlapochampally, Pet Basheerabad, Hyderabad, where a portion of a wall at a convention hall collapsed on Monday, September 15, leading to the death of one worker and injuries to five others. The accident happened around 3:30 pm following heavy overnight rains that weakened the structure. The deceased, identified as 50-year-old Gagan, died on the spot, while the injured were immediately shifted to CMR Hospital for treatment. According to officials, the victims were migrant labourers employed at a ready-mix plant owned by Aparna Constructions. They had been residing in temporary tin sheds erected next to the convention hall, which made them vulnerable when the wall gave way. The heavy rains lashing Hyderabad over the past 24 hours were cited as the primary reason for the collapse, highlighting once again the fragile state of construction sites and temporary shelters during monsoon conditions. Local residents expressed concern that poor safety measures and negligence by construction companies continue to endanger the lives of workers.
