United Arab Emirates-based Indian entrepreneur and Chairman of the LuLu Group, M A Yusuff Ali, has extended a generous donation of ₹10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF) to support families affected by the recent landslides in Wayanad, Kerala. The disaster, which left many homeless and displaced, has prompted large-scale rehabilitation efforts, with Yusuff Ali stepping in to ensure the victims receive long-term support. His donation reflects the strong bond he continues to maintain with his home state despite being based abroad.

The financial assistance was officially handed over to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at his office in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, August 20. Authorities confirmed that the donation will specifically be utilized for the construction of 50 permanent houses for families who lost their homes during the tragedy. This approach, officials noted, is part of the government’s larger rehabilitation plan that prioritizes sustainable rebuilding and restoring the lives of the affected population, rather than offering temporary relief measures alone.

This is not the first time Yusuff Ali has come forward to help the people of Wayanad. In 2024, following the initial devastation caused by the landslides, he donated ₹5 crore as immediate relief assistance to support urgent needs like food, shelter, and medical aid. With his latest contribution, the total amount he has dedicated towards rehabilitation efforts has reached ₹15 crore. His consistent philanthropy, both in India and internationally, continues to earn him recognition as one of the most compassionate business leaders committed to social responsibility.
