In a statement on Truth Social, Trump noted that their legacy has been “greatly enhanced” by this move and acknowledged the USA’s role in facilitating the agreement.
Trump further stated his intent to increase trade with both countries and expressed hope for long-term peace in the region, particularly referencing the Kashmir issue. “While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade substantially with both of these great Nations,” he posted. “Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a ‘thousand years,’ a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir.” He concluded his message by congratulating the leadership of both countries, calling their ceasefire “heroic” and a “job well done.”
The agreement follows heightened tensions triggered by Indian strikes on terror launchpads in Pakistan and PoK in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) from both sides agreed to cease all hostilities across land, air, and sea from 5 PM on Saturday.
