The Telangana government has initiated a door-to-door survey to assess the social, economic, political, caste, and educational status of households across the state. Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar launched the survey at the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation office on November 6, 2024. Enumerators will visit over 1.17 crore houses, collecting data on individual and family details, income, occupation, education, and benefits received from reservation and welfare schemes.
The survey, conducted by the State Planning Department, aims to gather information on various aspects, including caste-based occupations, health hazards, and access to banking services. Enumerators will affix stickers on visited households and record data in two-part forms. The survey will commence on November 9, following a three-day sticker-affixing period.

This initiative marks the first caste census in Telangana since 1931, aiming to provide valuable insights into the state’s social and economic landscape.
