Telangana Govt Allocates ₹325 Crore for Smooth Conduct of Local Body Elections

The Telangana Panchayat Raj Department has sanctioned ₹325 crore to facilitate the upcoming local body elections across the state. Out of the total allocation, ₹150 crore will be directed towards the conduct of Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) polls, while the remaining ₹175 crore is earmarked for elections to gram panchayats, including sarpanches and ward members. The funds will cover a wide range of expenses such as election materials, transportation, allowances for staff, office operations, and training programs necessary for the smooth execution of the elections.

To ensure fairness and transparency, the State Election Commission has instructed district collectors to appoint tahsildars as nodal officers in every mandal. These officers will be responsible for the strict enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct and are required to submit daily compliance reports to district-level officials and additional collectors. This move is aimed at maintaining accountability throughout the election process, with emphasis on monitoring campaign activities and preventing violations of election rules.

The Election Commission has also issued a stern warning that any negligence in enforcing the code will attract disciplinary action against the concerned tahsildars. With this proactive measure, the government is preparing to maintain the integrity of the electoral process while ensuring that the large-scale elections are conducted efficiently. The upcoming polls, backed by substantial financial allocation and administrative oversight, are seen as a crucial step in strengthening grassroots democracy in Telangana.
