Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Proposes Bullet Train From Hyderabad to Chennai

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has put forward an ambitious proposal to connect Hyderabad with Chennai through a high-speed bullet train corridor. The CM, while chairing a review meeting with top railway officials, emphasized the need for advanced connectivity from Shamshabad, where the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is located, to Chennai. He pointed out that such a project would not only ease long-distance travel but also enhance economic activity between Telangana and Tamil Nadu, making Hyderabad a stronger hub for international and domestic business travel.

In the same meeting, Reddy highlighted the importance of new railway networks that would integrate future infrastructure projects. He proposed a dedicated rail link from the upcoming ‘Bharat Future City’ in Hyderabad to Machilipatnam port in Andhra Pradesh, passing through Amaravati. According to him, such a corridor would be vital for trade, logistics, and industrial expansion. He further stressed the necessity of a ‘Regional Ring Rail’ around Hyderabad to complement the planned Regional Ring Road (RRR), ensuring that future urban growth is backed by robust transportation systems that can support both freight and passenger movement.

Revanth Reddy also reiterated his government’s vision of developing Hyderabad as a model city of the future. He explained that the proposed ‘Future City’ project would not only attract major investments but also generate large-scale employment opportunities, with world-class civic amenities at its core. By aligning railway projects with these developmental goals, the CM believes Telangana can set a benchmark for other states in urban planning and connectivity. His call for proposals marks the beginning of what could be one of the most transformative infrastructure initiatives in South India, potentially redefining how cities in the region connect and collaborate.
