Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Wednesday announced that all Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in the state will be provided with government vehicles along with a monthly allowance of ₹1 lakh. The announcement was made during the Assembly session as part of a series of measures aimed at improving governance and supporting elected representatives in carrying out their official responsibilities. The government said the initiative is intended to enhance transparency and administrative efficiency across the state.
The Chief Minister also announced a major expansion of the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme by increasing the annual medical insurance cover from ₹5 lakh to ₹25 lakh. In addition, medical and surgical treatment services for transgender individuals will now be available at seven government medical college hospitals, a move aimed at strengthening inclusive healthcare and improving access to specialised medical services.
Apart from these welfare measures, the Tamil Nadu government increased the procurement price of state-run Aavin milk from ₹38 to ₹41 per litre. The decision will require an additional annual expenditure of ₹360 crore and is expected to benefit nearly 3.16 lakh milk producers across the state. The announcements reflect the government’s focus on strengthening public welfare, supporting farmers, and improving governance through a range of policy initiatives.
