Seven Booked for Hoisting Palestinian Flag on UP School Building

In Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district, police have arrested seven individuals for allegedly hoisting a Palestinian flag atop a government school building. The incident took place on Sunday, August 31, at an upper primary school in Lakhaha Aliganj village. According to officials, the accused — identified as Saddam, Baura and Ananne, along with four unidentified associates — climbed the building and raised the flag, sparking outrage among villagers who witnessed the act.

Authorities stated that the accused not only hoisted the flag but also allegedly abused and threatened those who objected to their actions. The matter was quickly reported by local resident Sanjay Trivedi, who lodged a complaint at the Phoolbehar police station. Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident, treating it as a serious breach of peace and public order.

Following the complaint, the seven men were booked under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of promoting enmity, intentional insult intended to provoke violence, and criminal intimidation. Officials confirmed that the arrests were made to prevent further unrest in the area and to send a strong message that such activities would not be tolerated. Security has also been tightened in the village to avoid any communal tension.
