Senior Telangana Police Officer Dies After Falling into Elevator Shaft in Sircilla

In a tragic accident, Telangana Special Police 17th Battalion in-charge commandant Gangaram (55) lost his life after falling into an elevator shaft in Sircilla town. The incident occurred on Monday night when he was visiting his batchmate, Sircilla DSP Chandrashekhar Reddy, at his residence near the new bus stand. According to reports, while leaving the building, Gangaram pressed the elevator button on the third floor to descend. However, due to a malfunction, the elevator door opened before the lift arrived, and without realizing it, he stepped forward, falling straight into the shaft.

The impact left him with critical injuries, and DSP Chandrashekhar Reddy, along with other police personnel, immediately rushed him to Sircilla Government Hospital. Despite the doctors’ efforts, Gangaram succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The incident has raised serious concerns about elevator safety and maintenance in residential and commercial buildings. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine whether negligence was involved in the elevator malfunction, and if safety protocols were violated.

Gangaram was a respected officer with decades of service in the Telangana Special Police. His sudden demise has sent shockwaves through the police department, with colleagues and senior officials mourning the loss. His family and fellow officers have demanded a thorough inquiry to prevent such accidents in the future. The police have also urged building owners and maintenance agencies to ensure strict safety standards to avoid similar tragedies.
