A wave of panic spread across Delhi Public School in Hyderabad after an email bomb threat was sent to the official ID of the school chairman, Malka Komaraiah. This is the second such incident at the institution within a month, raising serious concerns over student and staff safety. Security forces, including bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog units, conducted a thorough search of the campus but found no explosives. This latest scare comes just days after a similar threat was reported at the Kandivali Education Society (KES) school and Junior College in Mumbai. In that case, an anonymous email from a group identifying themselves as the “Afzal gang” claimed that a bomb had been planted on the premises. Authorities took swift action, conducting an extensive security sweep with bomb detection and disposal squads. After a detailed search, officials declared the threat to be a hoax. While no immediate danger was found, such incidents have been causing significant disruption, forcing schools to shut down temporarily, delaying academic activities, and instilling fear among parents, students, and staff.
Meanwhile, authorities in Delhi recently detained a Class 12 student who had allegedly sent 23 bomb threats to different schools across the national capital. The student later confessed to the crime, admitting that the threats were meant to create panic. Law enforcement agencies are now working to identify whether the Hyderabad and Mumbai threats were also the result of mischief-makers or if there is a larger, more coordinated attempt to disrupt school environments. With an increasing number of such cases being reported nationwide, police officials are considering stricter legal action and enhanced cybersecurity measures to track down those responsible and prevent future threats.
