Revanth Reddy Inspects Mir Alam Tank Works, Reviews Suspension Bridge Project

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing development works at Hyderabad’s historic Mir Alam Tank on Thursday. During the visit, the Chief Minister used a hydraulic sky lift to get an aerial view of the construction activities and personally reviewed the progress of the Musi River rejuvenation project. Officials briefed him on the pace of the work and the upcoming phases of the project.

The Telangana government is constructing a 2.65-kilometre cable-stayed suspension bridge across Mir Alam Tank under the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited. The bridge, which will be 22.2 metres wide, is expected to improve connectivity between National Highway 44 and Chintalmet Road while easing traffic congestion in the surrounding areas. Entry and exit ramps are also being developed at Mir Mahmood Pahadi Road and near King’s Colony–Shastripuram Road to ensure smoother traffic movement.

Apart from reducing travel time, the ambitious project is expected to boost tourism around Mir Alam Tank, one of Hyderabad’s historic water bodies. Named after Mir Alam Bahadur, the former Prime Minister of the erstwhile Hyderabad State, the lake once served as the city’s primary source of drinking water before Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar were developed. The state government believes the bridge and surrounding beautification works will transform the area into a major urban landmark.
