Ketan Agarwal, son of a prominent Pimpri-Chinchwad businessman, died after falling into a valley at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18, 2026. He had gone trekking there with his fiancee Siya Goyal to celebrate her birthday. The couple was engaged and their wedding was scheduled for November in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Families had booked a palace in Jaipur for Rs 17 crore and arranged travel for guests. Initially Siya told police that Ketan slipped while taking photos, and his body was recovered after a three-hour rescue operation. The incident was first treated as an accident.
Lonavala Rural Police later found inconsistencies while reviewing the case. Mobile data, call records, and statements from people at the spot raised doubts about the version of events. Police detained Siya Goyal and her friend Chetan Chaudhry for questioning. Investigators said both admitted to conspiring to kill Ketan. According to SSP Sandeep Singh Gill, Siya was in a relationship with Chetan and did not want to go ahead with the marriage. Police are now probing whether anyone else aided the accused. Both remain in custody and a case has been registered with further investigation underway.
The case has shocked both families and the local community. Ketan’s wedding preparations were in full swing before his death, and relatives described the turn of events as unexpected. Police described the matter as disturbing and said they are examining all angles to establish the sequence of events. The investigation continues as authorities work to complete legal procedures and determine the full extent of involvement.
