Parliamentary Panel Applauds Telangana Cyber Security Bureau’s Effective Crackdown on Online Crimes

Hyderabad: A Parliamentary Standing Committee has lauded the efforts of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TCSB) for its remarkable achievements in curbing the growing menace of cybercrime. In a recent report to Parliament on the theme “Cyber Crimes – Trends, Safeguards and Regulation”, the committee chaired by BJP MP Radha Mohandas Agarwal praised Telangana, alongside Maharashtra and Kerala, for adopting innovative and effective initiatives to safeguard citizens from online threats. The panel observed that these pioneering practices should be replicated in other states to strengthen the overall cybercrime control system across India.

The committee highlighted that since its inception in April 2024, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau has made significant strides by registering 472 cases and arresting 160 cybercriminals. It also noted the bureau’s proactive approach in preventing fraud worth a staggering ₹283 crore while identifying over 800 offenders involved in various cybercrimes. Officials informed the panel that the TCSB’s rapid response mechanisms and public awareness initiatives have contributed to building a more secure digital ecosystem for citizens.

Stressing the need for a national-level framework, the committee recommended that the Ministry of Home Affairs extend adequate support and ensure the adoption of successful models like Telangana’s across all states. By promoting collaboration and resource-sharing between states, the panel emphasized that India can establish a more resilient cybercrime control system to counter sophisticated threats. The recognition for Telangana comes as a major boost to its ongoing efforts in positioning itself as a leader in cyber safety and public digital security.
