Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday announced a march to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on August 4, demanding that consumers be given the freedom to choose between E20 blended fuel and regular petrol at fuel stations. Speaking at a town hall meeting on E20 fuel at the Constitution Club of India, Kejriwal said the campaign aims to raise public concerns over fuel quality, pricing, and its impact on vehicles. He stated that petitions from citizens would be collected before leading a delegation to submit them to the Prime Minister.

Kejriwal argued that motorists should not be forced to use E20 fuel without having an alternative available at petrol pumps. He also demanded that the government reduce the price of E20 fuel and bring down overall petrol prices to provide relief to consumers. According to him, people deserve the right to decide which type of fuel best suits their vehicles, especially as concerns continue to be raised by sections of the public regarding the long-term effects of higher ethanol-blended petrol.

The former Delhi Chief Minister further urged the Central government to make public the scientific report it has relied upon to claim that E20 fuel does not damage vehicles. He said transparency is essential to build public confidence and questioned why the study has not been released if it supports the government’s position. Kejriwal maintained that citizens have the right to examine the evidence and make informed decisions about the fuel they use, while reiterating that his protest would focus on consumer choice, affordability, and accountability.
