Hyderabad Police Honoured with Global Anti-Narcotics Award at Dubai Summit

In a moment of pride for the entire nation, the Hyderabad City Police was awarded the prestigious “Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award” at the World Police Summit 2025 held in Dubai. Police Commissioner CV Anand received the award, recognizing the city’s relentless efforts to combat drug trafficking and create awareness about drug abuse. The Hyderabad-Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW), under Anand’s leadership, implemented a wide range of proactive strategies including strict enforcement, community outreach, and education campaigns, especially targeting schools and colleges within the commissionerate limits.

Commissioner Anand expressed immense satisfaction at the global recognition, noting that police forces from 138 countries participated in the summit. Competing against some of the world’s most advanced narcotics enforcement teams, H-NEW’s victory showcased Hyderabad Police’s commitment to innovation, community-based strategies, and effective policing. He applauded the dedication and hard work of his team, emphasizing that the honor is not only for Telangana but reflects positively on the entire Indian law enforcement community.

During a panel discussion preceding the awards ceremony, CV Anand elaborated on the rising narcotics threats in post-COVID India. He detailed how narcotics enter the country, the operational tactics used to apprehend peddlers and gangs, and the importance of vigilance in educational institutions through anti-drug committees. He also highlighted the importance of rehabilitation and awareness as parallel efforts to enforcement. Anand credited the award to H-NEW’s holistic approach and pledged to continue strengthening the fight against narcotics at every level.
