Hyderabad food safety authorities have taken action against four unlicensed street food manufacturing units in the NM Guda area of Attapur after uncovering multiple violations during a surprise inspection. The joint operation, carried out by the Hyderabad Food Safety Task Force (H-FAST) and GHMC Food Safety officials, covered one pani puri manufacturing unit and three samosa production units. Officials found that all four units were operating without valid food licences and were preparing food in unhygienic conditions while allegedly using substandard raw materials, raising concerns over public health and food safety.

During the inspection, authorities seized and destroyed around 10 kilograms of prepared samosas and 15 kilograms of prepared pani puris as a precautionary measure to prevent unsafe food from reaching consumers. Officials stated that the action was taken under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the operators of the units. The discarded food items were disposed of on the spot following the inspection.

The Hyderabad Food Safety Task Force said the drive is part of its ongoing campaign to identify and act against food businesses that fail to comply with hygiene and licensing regulations. Authorities reiterated that regular inspections will continue across the city to ensure food sold to the public meets prescribed safety standards. Citizens have also been urged to report unhygienic food preparation or illegal food manufacturing activities to help maintain food safety across Hyderabad.
