Hemant Soren Joins Vote Adhikar Yatra in Patna, Accuses BJP of Undermining Democracy

Patna: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday joined the culmination rally of the Congress-led ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Patna, where he strongly criticized the BJP-led NDA government. He alleged that in the name of special intensive revision, people’s voting rights were being curtailed and electoral rolls were being manipulated to suit the interests of the ruling coalition. Soren warned that such practices amounted to an assault on democracy and urged people to remain vigilant against attempts to dilute their constitutional rights.

Addressing a large gathering, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader accused the BJP of following a “divide and rule” strategy to retain power and weaken opposition unity. He called on all INDIA bloc parties to stand firm and united in their mission to unseat the NDA in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that collective resistance was the only way to safeguard democratic values. Soren further alleged that central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) were being misused to target opposition leaders and silence dissenting voices.

Reiterating his accusations, Soren charged the BJP with engaging in “vote chori” (vote theft) and horse-trading to topple legitimately elected state governments. He described these acts as direct threats to constitutional governance and urged citizens to recognize the importance of their vote in protecting India’s democratic fabric. “Our vote protects and safeguards our Constitution,” he declared, reinforcing the rally’s message that free and fair elections are the foundation of India’s democracy.
