Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms has disrupted normal life across Hyderabad, with authorities urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel over the next few hours. According to the Hyderabad Traffic Police, intense rain is expected over Khairatabad, Secunderabad, Golconda, Charminar, Chandrayangutta and Rajendranagar, while scattered showers and thunderstorms are also likely in Jubilee Hills and Shamshabad. Officials have advised commuters to plan their journeys carefully as weather conditions continue to deteriorate.
Several parts of the city have already reported severe waterlogging, resulting in slow-moving traffic and diversions. Water has accumulated near Pillar No. 117 on the PVNR Expressway, where Monsoon Emergency Teams have been deployed to monitor the situation. Commuters travelling from Road No. 10 and Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills have been asked to avoid the KBR One-Way route through Agrasen Island, Tajmahal U-Turn, BVB and Journalist Colony due to flooded roads. Slow vehicular movement has also been reported at Tippu Khan Bridge towards Langar Houz as rainwater continues to inundate key stretches.
Weather experts have indicated that the current spell marks the return of significant rainfall after a prolonged dry period, with moderate to heavy rain forecast for eastern Telangana between November 2 and 4. The rest of the state is also expected to receive light to moderate showers over the next five to six days. Authorities have appealed to residents to remain alert, follow official traffic advisories, and avoid waterlogged roads until conditions improve.
