Gurugram Hit-and-Run: Driver Arrested, Attempt to Murder Charge Added

Gurugram Police have arrested Kalyan Bainsla, the driver accused of hitting a woman biker on Golf Course Road and fleeing the scene. Police arrested him in Rajgarh, Rajasthan, and an attempt-to-murder charge under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been added to the case after investigators examined CCTV footage of the incident.

The case came to light after a video of the incident went viral on social media on September 14. The footage showed a speeding car allegedly hitting the woman’s motorcycle and dragging it for several metres. Police took suo motu cognisance of the video and launched an investigation. The victim, Sia, later approached the Sector 56 police station and submitted a written complaint. She suffered injuries to her knees after being thrown off the motorcycle.

According to Sia, the car allegedly followed her before hitting her motorcycle on Golf Course Road, after which the driver fled the spot. Bainsla has denied deliberately hitting the biker, claiming that the collision was an accident, and has also denied fleeing the scene. Police said their decision to add the attempt-to-murder charge was based on their analysis of CCTV footage. The accused is being brought back to Gurugram for further investigation.
