A gas cylinder placed on the railway track caused alarm when it was struck by the Kalindi Express near Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on Sunday evening at around 8 pm between Barrajpur and Bilhaur stations on the Kanpur-Kasganj route. Fortunately, no major accident occurred, but the train was halted for 20 minutes as authorities investigated. The cylinder was thrown 50 meters from the impact.

Railway Police, Anti-Terror Squad (ATS), and Government Railway Police (GRP) are investigating, with reports of additional suspicious materials found nearby. Kanpur Assistant Commissioner of Police Harish Chander confirmed the incident, stating that emergency brakes were applied, and the train was stopped immediately.

Twelve individuals have been detained for questioning. Politicians, including YSRCP leader Vijayasai Reddy, have called for a thorough investigation, emphasizing the need for passenger safety. Similar incidents involving objects on railway tracks have been reported previously, raising concerns about potential sabotage attempts.
