Ex-MP Ashok Tanwar Rejoins Congress After Brief Stint with BJP

Former Congress MP Ashok Tanwar has rejoined the Congress party after a brief stint with the BJP. Tanwar, who served as Haryana Congress chief from 2014 to 2019, had joined the BJP in January and contested the general election on the party’s symbol but lost. He rejoined the Congress at party leader Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Haryana’s Mahendragarh.

Interestingly, Tanwar was tweeting in support of BJP candidates contesting the Haryana Assembly election earlier in the day. However, he later deleted those tweets after joining the Congress. His return to the party comes on the last day of campaigning ahead of the Haryana Assembly election.

The 90 Assembly segments in Haryana will vote on Saturday, with the Congress pushing hard for a return to power and the BJP aiming for a third consecutive term. Tanwar’s move is seen as a significant development in the run-up to the election, highlighting the fluid nature of politics in the state.
