Dubai is set to host the debut of the Tensor Robocar, described as the world’s first personally owned Level 4 autonomous vehicle, at the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport. Developed by Tensor, a Silicon Valley–based AI company, the Robocar promises to revolutionize urban mobility by allowing drivers to cruise without touching the steering wheel in approved self-driving zones. Unlike earlier concept vehicles, this innovation is being marketed as a consumer-ready product that blends cutting-edge autonomy with practical ownership.

The Robocar operates at Level 4 autonomy, meaning it can manage all driving functions within designated areas without human supervision. However, Tensor has built in manual override features, giving owners the option to seamlessly switch between autonomous, assisted, and manual driving modes. According to the company, this smooth transition ensures both safety and convenience, especially in environments where self-driving conditions are not yet fully mapped or approved. Amy Luca, Tensor’s Chief Marketing Officer, highlighted Dubai as the ideal launch location due to its reputation for embracing futuristic technologies and rapid infrastructure adoption.
