New Delhi: An FIR has been lodged against Delhi Chief Minister Atishi for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by using a government vehicle for election purposes. The complaint was filed at the Govindpuri police station in southeast Delhi by the returning officer of the Kalkaji assembly constituency. The incident reportedly involved the use of a Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) vehicle for transporting election materials, a practice strictly prohibited during campaigning.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticized the FIR, alleging political bias and undue influence from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of using the police and election commission to target AAP leaders while turning a blind eye to similar offenses by their own party members. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh further emphasized that complaints against BJP leaders with video evidence had not resulted in any action, calling for impartiality in handling such cases.

Delhi Police stated that the case has been registered under Section 223(a) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which deals with disobedience to orders from a public servant. Depending on the nature of the violation, penalties can range from six months to one year in jail or fines up to ₹5,000. BJP leaders, meanwhile, submitted additional evidence, including a video clip, to the Election Commission, alleging misuse of government resources. A response from the BJP regarding these allegations is awaited.
