BJP Faces Criticism for Not Fulfilling ₹2,500 Aid Promise to Women in First Cabinet Meeting

Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi has accused the newly formed BJP government, led by CM Rekha Gupta, of failing to fulfill its promise of providing ₹2,500 per month to women in Delhi. Atishi stated that the BJP had pledged to approve the scheme in its first cabinet meeting, but no such decision was made. She alleged that the BJP has already started breaking its promises and deceiving the people of Delhi. In a video message, she criticized the party for not prioritizing financial assistance for women despite making it a key electoral commitment.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta defended her government’s actions, stating that the BJP will work on its own agenda. She announced that the government would implement the Ayushman Bharat scheme with a ₹5 lakh top-up and present the 14 pending CAG reports in the first assembly sitting. Gupta dismissed Atishi’s remarks, saying that the AAP had its time in power and should not dictate the new government’s decisions. The BJP had earlier criticized AAP for not implementing the Centre’s flagship health scheme, and Gupta’s announcement signals a shift in policy priorities.

The political friction between AAP and BJP continues to escalate, with both parties trading barbs over governance issues in Delhi. While AAP is highlighting unfulfilled promises, BJP leaders argue that their government will function on its own terms. The debate over the ₹2,500 aid scheme underscores the broader ideological and political battle between the two parties as they shape Delhi’s governance for the coming years.
