AAP MLA Mehraj Malik from Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda constituency was marshalled out of the Legislative Assembly after staging a protest inside the House. Malik entered the well of the Assembly during the Question Hour, alleging that he was repeatedly being denied an opportunity to raise public issues. As he continued his protest despite warnings, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather ordered marshals to escort him out of the Assembly.
Earlier in the day, Malik arrived at the Assembly on a motorcycle, claiming that his official security cover and driver had been withdrawn before the session. In a post on X, he said he had become the only MLA in Jammu and Kashmir without an escort, driver, or Personal Security Officers (PSOs). He alleged that his security arrangements had been reduced in phases ahead of the Assembly proceedings.
Expressing concern over his safety, Mehraj Malik said that Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat would be responsible if any harm came to him. The incident triggered political attention as questions were raised over both the withdrawal of his security cover and the disruption witnessed during the Assembly session.
