AAP Leader Atishi Seeks Urgent Meeting with Delhi CM Over Women’s Aid Scheme

AAP leader Atishi has requested an urgent meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta to discuss the status of the Rs 2,500 monthly aid scheme for women. This financial assistance was a key promise made by the ruling BJP during its election campaign. In her letter to CM Gupta on Saturday, Atishi questioned why the scheme was not approved in the new government’s first cabinet meeting despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public assurance during a pre-election rally. She emphasized the need for clarity on the implementation timeline, stressing that lakhs of women in Delhi are awaiting financial relief.

Gupta and her council of ministers took the oath of office on Thursday after securing a victory over AAP in the Delhi Assembly elections earlier this month. However, the absence of the promised aid in the government’s immediate agenda has sparked concerns among opposition leaders and citizens alike. Atishi, along with other AAP MLAs, intends to push for a concrete response from the government regarding the scheme’s funding and rollout strategy. She reiterated that fulfilling this commitment is essential for maintaining public trust and delivering on election promises.

The BJP has yet to respond to Atishi’s request, but political analysts suggest that the issue could become a major point of contention in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, AAP is mobilizing its supporters to demand transparency and accountability. As the debate over the scheme’s future unfolds, all eyes are on the Delhi government’s next steps in addressing the concerns of women who were banking on this financial support.
