The Cyberabad traffic police on Tuesday, August 12, issued a public advisory following forecasts of heavy rains in Hyderabad. With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting rain or thundershowers in the city till August 16, the police have urged companies and employees to take precautionary steps to avoid traffic congestion and ensure safety. The advisory specifically targeted those working in the evening, suggesting adjustments in work schedules to prevent inconvenience during peak rainfall hours.
The statement recommended that companies plan for an early logout starting from 3:00 pm in a staggered manner, and advised evening shift employees to opt for work-from-home (WFH) arrangements. The aim, the police said, was to ensure smooth movement of emergency services and avoid bottlenecks on waterlogged roads. This move comes after similar guidance was issued on Monday, as heavy showers caused traffic slowdowns in several parts of the city.
According to the IMD, intense spells of rain are likely in Hyderabad today, potentially accompanied by gusty winds. The weather department’s warnings prompted city authorities to proactively alert the public, urging them to stay indoors when possible and travel only if necessary. With more rain expected over the next few days, officials are stressing caution to minimize disruptions and maintain public safety.
