Major Fire Breaks Out at Potato Chips Godown in Jagadgirigutta, No Casualties Reported

A significant fire accident occurred early Wednesday morning at a potato chips godown belonging to Surya Enterprises in Papireddy Nagar, Jagadgirigutta, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. While there were no casualties reported, the blaze caused extensive damage to property and triggered panic among nearby residents. The fire reportedly started in the early hours, and although the exact cause is yet to be determined, police suspect an electrical short circuit may have been the reason.

The fire intensified quickly due to the presence of highly flammable materials such as plastic, fiber, and packaging components stored within the godown. As the flames spread, thick black smoke enveloped the surrounding locality, creating a tense atmosphere and forcing residents to rush out of their homes. On receiving emergency alerts, local police and two fire tenders from the fire department reached the location and managed to bring the situation under control after a challenging operation.

Jagadgirigutta police have begun a detailed investigation to ascertain the cause and assess the full extent of the damage. Officials have urged businesses dealing with combustible goods to ensure strict fire safety protocols are in place. The incident has once again raised concerns over fire preparedness in industrial storage zones across Hyderabad, especially in densely populated suburban stretches like Jagadgirigutta.
