Hyderabad: In a proactive step to tackle recurring waterlogging at Lakdikapul Junction, the Hyderabad traffic police and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have jointly announced a month-long night-time traffic diversion plan. The construction project, focused on laying a 180-metre-long storm water drain, aims to enhance the drainage infrastructure in the area. Officials confirmed that the work commenced on June 11 and is scheduled for completion in a month, although unforeseen conditions on-site may extend the timeline.
To reduce disruption to daily commuters, all construction activities will be restricted to nighttime hours — between 11 pm and 5 am. The construction stretch begins from the Intelligence Office and extends up to Dwaraka Hotel, passing through key landmarks like Lucky Restaurant and Venkateshwara Hotel. With this strategic night-only operation, authorities are hopeful of minimizing congestion during peak daytime traffic hours, while expediting essential civic upgrades.
During the construction period, specific diversions have been mandated. Vehicles heading from Nirankari towards Iqbal Minar will now be rerouted at Dwaraka Hotel towards Ravindra Bharathi. Similarly, traffic moving from Ravindra Bharathi to Old PS Saifabad will be diverted at Iqbal Minar to the Secretariat Junction. Commuters are urged to follow updated signage and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smooth flow throughout the project duration.
