WHO Urges Immediate Ceasefire as Kamal Adwan Hospital in Gaza Faces Intensified Israeli Attacks

Israeli forces have escalated their assault on Kamal Adwan Hospital in North Gaza, leaving the facility in a state of dire emergency. According to Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the hospital director, all departments are under attack from sniper fire, tank shells, and drones. Despite evacuation orders issued by the Israeli military, relocating the hospital’s 66 patients, medical staff, and equipment within hours remains nearly impossible without endangering lives. The hospital, already under siege for over two months, has suffered from severe shortages of electricity, water, oxygen, and food supplies, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed grave concern, labeling the bombardments “deeply worrisome.” He emphasized the life-threatening risks posed to patients and medical staff, urging an immediate ceasefire near the hospital. The Israeli military’s deployment of booby-trapped robots around the hospital has further restricted movement, preventing essential supplies and personnel from reaching the besieged facility. While WHO managed to deliver 70 units of blood, the hospital urgently needs over 200, along with other critical resources to sustain life-saving operations.

Dr. Safiya has issued repeated pleas for international intervention to address the growing humanitarian catastrophe. With no sufficient food, injured patients are left without proper nourishment during recovery, and medical staff working around the clock are also deprived of basic meals. The global community is being urged to act swiftly to provide relief and prevent further loss of innocent lives amidst the ongoing violence in Gaza.
