Telangana BJP MLA Protests in Bullock Cart Over Unfulfilled Farmers’ Loan Waiver Promise

In a striking act of protest, a Telangana BJP MLA arrived at the State Assembly in a bullock cart, aiming to draw attention to the unfulfilled promises made by the Congress-led government regarding farmers’ welfare. The MLA’s unconventional approach was in response to the government’s failure to discuss the loan waiver scheme for farmers, which promised up to Rs 2 lakh in debt relief. This form of protest underscores the BJP’s criticism that the Congress government has not lived up to its commitments to the agricultural community in Telangana.

The BJP has been vocal about its disappointment with the current administration, especially regarding its promises for farmers. The failure to hold meaningful discussions on the loan waiver during the legislative session was seen as a sign of neglect by the ruling government. By choosing such an old-fashioned and symbolic method of transport, the BJP MLA emphasized the serious concerns of farmers who are still waiting for the relief they were promised.

In a related protest, K.T. Rama Rao, working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), also made headlines by arriving at the Assembly in an autorickshaw. This act was intended to highlight the struggles faced by autorickshaw drivers, who are said to be impacted by the Congress government’s free bus travel scheme. Other BRS members followed suit, arriving in three-wheelers as a show of solidarity. Both the BJP and BRS have used such protests to pressure the government into fulfilling its promises, focusing on the agricultural sector and the transportation community.
