Death Toll Rises to 38 in Sudan Market Attack Amid Escalating Conflict

The death toll from a drone attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a market in El Fasher, Sudan, has risen to 38, according to local NGOs. This attack is one of several recent escalations in the ongoing conflict between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), which has caused over 28,700 deaths and displaced more than 14 million people since April 2023.

On December 13, another RSF assault involving artillery shelling killed 45 civilians, including women and children, in residential neighborhoods and displacement camps near El Fasher. These acts have drawn condemnation, with reports highlighting deliberate targeting of civilian areas, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

The ongoing violence has created a dire situation for millions in Sudan, who face displacement, lack of safety, and limited access to basic needs. The international community continues to call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and humanitarian support to the affected regions.
