Hyderabad: A high-voltage drama unfolded at the Telangana Assembly entrance on Monday morning as BRS leaders, led by working president KT Rama Rao, staged a surprise protest against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s alleged corporate ties. Sporting t-shirts with the slogan ‘Revanth-Adani Bhai Bhai’ and images of the Chief Minister alongside industrialist Gautam Adani, the BRS legislators called out the alleged nexus between the government and corporate entities. The protest, however, was short-lived as police intervened, leading to the arrest of several leaders, including senior MLCs and MLAs like T Harish Rao and K Kavitha.
The confrontation began when security personnel barred the legislators from entering the Assembly premises wearing the slogan-bearing t-shirts, prompting heated arguments. The BRS leaders questioned the police’s authority to dictate their attire, emphasizing that their protest mirrored similar actions by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against Adani. The situation escalated as the legislators raised slogans such as “Adani-Revanth Bhai Bhai” and “Telangana Thalli muddura, Congress Thalli vaddura,” before being detained and shifted to a nearby police station.
Earlier in the day, the BRS delegation visited the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial to pay homage to those who fought for statehood. Speaking to reporters, KT Rama Rao criticized the Congress government for its failure to fulfill electoral promises and its alleged attempts to undermine Telangana’s cultural identity. Highlighting the redesign of the Telangana Thalli statue as a case in point, he vowed to expose the government’s actions in the ongoing Assembly session.
