A railway official has revealed that a “mismatch between signal and route” led to the derailment of the Mysuru-Darbhanga Bagmati Express in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvallur district. The passenger train, traveling at 75 km/h, rammed into a stationary goods train, injuring 19 people and derailing 12 coaches.
RN Singh, General Manager of Southern Railways, explained that the train was supposed to switch to the main line but instead entered a closed section of the track where the goods train was parked. An investigation by the Railway Safety Commissioner will determine the exact cause.
[news_related_post]The accident occurred 40 km from Chennai, with over 1,300 passengers on board. Fortunately, no deaths have been reported, and the injured are receiving treatment. Multiple trains have been canceled or diverted due to ongoing repair work, expected to take up to 24 hours.
