A Bengaluru court has directed the Tilak Nagar Police to register a First Information Report (FIR) against Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The order comes in response to a petition filed by Adarsh Iyer of the Janadhikar Sangharsh Parishad, alleging Sitharaman’s involvement in extorting money through electoral bonds.
The complaint claims corporate entities were coerced into purchasing electoral bonds, which were then cashed by BJP leaders, including Sitharaman. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called for Sitharaman’s resignation.
