In an interview with Ynetnews, Daniel Carmon, former Israeli Ambassador to India, has stated that India is providing weapons to Israel as a reciprocal gesture for Israeli support during the 1999 Kargil War. Carmon mentioned that Israel was among the few countries that supplied arms to India during its conflict with Pakistan, a fact often remembered by the Indian public.
“People in India always remind us that Israel stood by them during the Kargil War,” Carmon remarked. He further added that Indians never forget this and perhaps are now reciprocating.
Carmon’s comments come at a time when reports suggest that India is supplying drones and artillery shells to Israel for its military assistance in the Gaza conflict. According to Shephard Media, Hyderabad-based Adani-Elbit Advanced Systems India Ltd. delivered over 20 Heron TP Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs to Israel in February from its international defense business outlet.
Established in Hyderabad, Adani-Elbit Advanced Systems India Ltd. is a joint venture between Adani Defence and Aerospace and Israel’s Elbit Systems, aimed at manufacturing UAVs outside Israel for the first time.
