ADNOC Secures 10-Year LNG Supply Agreement with Gujarat Energy

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has signed a long-term agreement to supply up to 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Gujarat Energy Ltd (GEL) over a period of 10 years, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2028. The agreement marks the first commercial sale from the international gas portfolio of ADNOC’s investment arm, XRG, and further strengthens the UAE’s growing energy partnership with India. The deal is also ADNOC’s fifth long-term LNG supply agreement with an Indian company, highlighting India’s importance as one of the world’s fastest-growing energy markets.

The new contract expands ADNOC’s presence in India, where it already has long-term LNG supply agreements with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), GAIL, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). Through these partnerships, ADNOC has secured multi-year commitments to supply millions of tonnes of LNG annually to support India’s increasing demand for cleaner energy. Company officials said the latest agreement with Gujarat Energy demonstrates XRG’s ability to connect its international gas assets with key customers while strengthening ADNOC’s global LNG marketing and trading network across major Asian markets.

For India, the agreement is expected to improve long-term energy security by ensuring a stable supply of LNG as the country expands the use of natural gas in industries, power generation, transportation, and households. ADNOC aims to build a global LNG business capable of marketing 47 million tonnes per annum beyond 2030, placing it among the world’s leading LNG suppliers. Gujarat Energy, which operates across gas trading, city gas distribution, LNG infrastructure, and power generation in several Indian states, said the partnership will support India’s transition toward cleaner energy while meeting the country’s rapidly growing demand for natural gas.
