Hyderabad police have uncovered an alleged adulterated milk manufacturing unit in Pocharam and arrested a 43-year-old man accused of producing and supplying fake milk to consumers across the city. The operation was carried out by the Future City Commissionerate Special Operations Team (SOT), Maheshwaram, following specific intelligence inputs. Officials said the accused, identified as Ande Srisailam, was allegedly mixing hydrogen peroxide and Dholpur milk powder with milk before distributing it through local supply channels, raising serious concerns over public health and food safety.
During the raid, police seized 100 litres of adulterated milk, one litre of hydrogen peroxide, and 35 one-kilogram packets of Dholpur milk powder, which were allegedly being used in the manufacturing process. Authorities immediately took the accused into custody and confiscated all materials found at the unit. Preliminary investigations suggest the adulterated milk had already been supplied to customers in different parts of Hyderabad, prompting officials to examine the scale of the operation and identify those involved in the distribution network.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine how long the illegal activity had been running, the quantity of adulterated milk supplied to the market, and whether any additional individuals were involved. Officials are also working to trace the complete supply chain and assess how many consumers may have unknowingly purchased the contaminated milk. The case has once again highlighted the importance of strict monitoring of food products and intensified enforcement against food adulteration to safeguard public health across Hyderabad.
