The Telangana government has announced a major reduction in the prices of the Hyderabad Metro–TGSRTC common travel passes, offering significant relief to thousands of daily commuters. The revised fares will come into effect from November 8, making public transport more affordable and encouraging greater use of Metro Rail and RTC bus services. Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the decision was taken to reduce the financial burden on passengers while promoting integrated public transportation across Hyderabad.
Under the revised pricing, the daily common travel pass has been reduced from Rs 400 to Rs 275. Of the total amount, Rs 200 will be allocated for Hyderabad Metro travel, while Rs 75 will be used for TGSRTC bus services. The daily pass will allow commuters to make up to four single Metro journeys along with bus travel benefits, providing a cost-effective option for people who regularly use both transport systems.
The government has also cut the price of the monthly common travel pass from Rs 8,500 to Rs 4,000, nearly halving its cost. The monthly pass includes Rs 3,000 for Metro travel and Rs 1,000 for TGSRTC bus services, allowing commuters to make up to 50 round trips in a month. According to the Transport Minister, the revised fares will help monthly pass holders save Rs 4,500, while daily pass users will save Rs 125, making public transport more accessible and affordable for residents across Hyderabad.
