Major Traffic Relief Ahead as GHMC Clears Land for Two Key Hyderabad Road Projects

Thousands of commuters in Hyderabad’s Shamshabad and Rajendranagar areas are expected to benefit as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated the acquisition of nearly 23,500 square yards of land for two long-awaited road widening projects. The civic body has issued official notifications to expand both stretches into 100-foot-wide roads, aiming to ease heavy traffic congestion and improve connectivity in rapidly developing suburbs that have witnessed significant growth in residential and commercial construction over the past few years.

One of the proposed corridors will connect the Gollapalli Junction on National Highway 44 in Shamshabad to Pedda Golkonda through the Outer Ring Road (ORR) service road. The second project, identified as Corridor No. 19, will link the ORR service road with Chevella Road by passing through Bandlaguda Jagir and Kismatpur in Rajendranagar. These roads have remained narrow despite increasing traffic volumes, leading to frequent bottlenecks and long delays for daily commuters, especially during peak hours.

Once completed, the widened roads are expected to provide smoother travel between the ORR and several parts of Hyderabad, offering alternative routes and reducing pressure on existing roads. The infrastructure upgrade is also expected to support future urban expansion in Shamshabad and Rajendranagar, where rapid population growth and rising vehicle numbers have significantly increased the demand for better road connectivity.:::
