Krishna Phase-2 Pipeline Repaired Swiftly, Water Supply Restored Across Affected Areas

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) successfully completed emergency repairs on the damaged Krishna Phase-2 drinking water pipeline after a car crashed into an air valve near Nagole Metro Station in the early hours of Monday. The accident took place around 4:00 am near Uppal Bhagayat, where the vehicle broke through the protective iron safety fence and severely damaged the air valve system, resulting in a major water leak. To prevent further loss of water and ensure safe repair work, officials immediately shut down the affected pumping system and launched emergency restoration efforts.

Following instructions from HMWSSB Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy, teams from the transmission and operations & maintenance departments worked together to replace the damaged equipment and repair the air valve system. Engineers and technical staff arranged all the necessary machinery and materials on priority, allowing the entire repair process to be completed within just five hours. Their coordinated efforts successfully stopped the water leakage and ensured that the damaged pipeline was restored without any major delay.

After the repair work was completed, drinking water supply to all affected localities resumed normally. The Water Board said the quick response was aimed at minimizing inconvenience to residents, especially during the festive season when water demand is higher. Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy appreciated the dedication and teamwork displayed by the engineers, officials, and technical staff, stating that providing uninterrupted drinking water to the people of Hyderabad remains the department’s highest priority.
