PM Modi: India’s Growth Is Built on Partnership, Not Competition

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said India’s rise as an economic and technological power is driven by the principle of growing with the world rather than at the expense of other nations. Speaking at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi, he said the country’s economic success is supported by strong fundamentals, sustained reforms and financial resilience. Modi highlighted India’s 7.8 percent GDP growth in the April–June quarter, foreign exchange reserves exceeding USD 700 billion, and reforms in taxation, insolvency and labour laws as key indicators of the country’s stability. He added that in a world facing geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, India offers reliability, long-term growth and opportunities for global cooperation.

The Prime Minister said India’s expanding digital economy and innovation ecosystem have transformed access to technology and financial services across the country. He pointed to digital public infrastructure, affordable mobile data, digital payments and direct benefit transfer systems as examples of technology empowering both small businesses and large enterprises. Modi also noted that India’s startup ecosystem has grown to more than 250,000 startups, with nearly half operating from smaller cities and a significant number led by women entrepreneurs. According to him, these achievements reflect inclusive growth and demonstrate how innovation is reaching every corner of the country while creating new economic opportunities.

Modi also called for stronger international cooperation to address global challenges, warning that supply chains, energy resources, technology and payment systems are increasingly being used as strategic tools in global competition. He said India has played a constructive role by supplying affordable medicines and vaccines, sharing digital public infrastructure with partner countries and expanding clean energy initiatives. Highlighting renewable energy growth, solar power programmes and ongoing economic reforms, he said India aims to contribute not only to its own prosperity but also to global development by providing technology, skilled talent, manufacturing capacity and sustainable solutions for countries around the world.
