CJP To Hold ‘Chappal Protest’ In Bengaluru, Actor Prakash Raj To Join Demonstration

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a “Chappal Protest” to be held at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on October 8, following a People’s Tribunal on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The event aims to highlight concerns over the alleged removal of eligible voters from electoral rolls and express solidarity with women. CJP leaders have called on citizens to participate in large numbers, describing the protest as part of a broader campaign to protect democratic rights.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, co-convener Ashutosh Ranka, spokesperson Saurav Das, and several youth and civil society organisations are expected to participate in the demonstration. Actor Prakash Raj has also extended his support and urged the public to attend the event. Ahead of the protest, a People’s Tribunal will hear testimonies from individuals who claim they were wrongly removed from the voters’ list during the SIR exercise in Karnataka.

The organisers are demanding that all voter deletions made during the Special Intensive Revision be cancelled and that the pre-SIR electoral rolls be restored. They have also called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging irregularities and a lack of transparency in the electoral revision process. The protest is expected to draw political activists, civil society members, and affected voters, while further intensifying the ongoing debate over the SIR exercise.
