A surprise sit-in by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi at Akashvani Bhawan during the INDIA bloc’s protest against the Election Commission has reportedly caused unease among several alliance partners. According to reports, the decision was made without informing other allies in advance, leading some leaders to feel that the joint protest was overshadowed by the Gandhi siblings.
Congress leaders said the decision to move to Akashvani Bhawan was taken at the last moment, leaving no time to inform alliance partners. After news of the sit-in spread, representatives from the Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party also joined the protest. Police later detained the protesters, and an FIR was registered against Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
The Congress maintained that surprise protests are necessary to keep demonstrations effective and said similar actions would continue in the future. However, some INDIA bloc allies expressed concern over the lack of coordination, arguing that better communication would have helped present a stronger and more united opposition during the protest.
