Garbage Fire Triggers Midnight Blaze at Hyderabad’s Charminar Bus Stand

A fire broke out near the Charminar Bus Stand in Hyderabad during the early hours of Saturday after a heap of garbage caught fire, prompting a swift response from the Telangana Fire Department. According to fire officials, the incident occurred at around 2:28 a.m., with videos circulating on social media showing flames rising from the garbage as firefighters worked to bring the situation under control. Authorities confirmed that a single fire engine was dispatched to the scene, and the blaze was successfully extinguished without causing any injuries.

Speaking after the incident, Charminar MLA Mir Zulfeqar Ali blamed the fire on the negligence of people who continued to park their vehicles near the bus stand despite repeated warnings. He said he would take up the matter with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials and seek the permanent closure and locking of the area to prevent similar incidents in the future. The MLA stressed that stricter enforcement and better public cooperation were essential to avoid such fire hazards in crowded public spaces.

Officials from the Telangana State Fire Control Room said the preliminary investigation indicated that the fire was accidentally triggered when a person threw a lit cigarette into the garbage heap. The incident once again highlighted the dangers of improper waste disposal and careless handling of smoking materials in public places. While no casualties or major property damage were reported, authorities urged citizens to act responsibly and avoid littering or discarding burning objects near combustible waste to reduce the risk of similar accidents.
