Pregnant Defence Ministry Officer Found Dead in Delhi, Husband and In-Laws Booked

A 30-year-old Assistant Section Officer with the Defence Ministry, Nazia Khanam, was found dead at her residence in Dwarka, Delhi. According to police, Nazia was reportedly three months pregnant. She had married Mohammad Azam Ali Khan on April 11, 2026. Police received information about the incident on Friday afternoon and reached the residence, where Nazia was found dead. Her body was subsequently sent to DDU Hospital for post-mortem examination. The circumstances surrounding her death are now being investigated by the Delhi Police.

According to the police, Nazia and her husband had gone to a hospital for a check-up on the day of the incident. After returning home, the couple reportedly had an argument over an issue. Police said Nazia subsequently went into another room, while her husband remained in a separate room. The room in which Nazia was found was reportedly locked from inside. Initially, her family members did not raise allegations against her husband or in-laws in statements given before the Executive Magistrate. However, the family later approached the authorities with a complaint alleging harassment and physical and mental abuse.

Following the complaint, Delhi Police registered a case against Nazia’s husband and in-laws under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cruelty and Section 108 for abetment of suicide. The family has also alleged dowry-related harassment and demanded that provisions relating to dowry death be added to the case. Police said the allegations are being investigated and that further legal action will depend on the evidence collected during the investigation. The exact circumstances that led to Nazia’s death, as well as the allegations made by her family, remain under investigation.
