More than 47 lakh voters in Delhi will not find their names in the draft electoral roll scheduled to be published on August 24 as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. According to data released by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office, only 97.47 lakh out of the city’s 1.45 crore registered voters submitted their enumeration forms before the August 17 deadline, resulting in an overall submission rate of 67.18%. Those who failed to submit their forms will have another opportunity to apply during the claims and objections period before the final electoral roll is published on October 27.
The data revealed significant differences in form submission rates across Assembly constituencies. Tughlakabad recorded the lowest submission rate, with only 52% of registered voters completing the process, followed by Okhla at 54.66%, Kasturba Nagar at 56%, and Kalkaji at 57%. In South-East Delhi, just 56.32% of the district’s over 15.5 lakh registered voters submitted their forms. Despite lower participation in some areas, several minority-dominated constituencies recorded comparatively higher levels of successful form submission and digitisation.
On the other hand, Rohini emerged as the best-performing constituency, with 83.43% of voters completing the enumeration process, followed by Shakurbasti (81.26%), Rajouri Garden (79.14%), Mangolpuri (78.76%), and Uttam Nagar (77.76%). Election officials said voters whose names are missing from the draft roll can submit Form 6 between August 24 and September 23 during the claims and objections period. The Chief Electoral Officer’s office will examine these applications and issue the final electoral roll on October 27 after completing the verification process.
