A tragic incident was reported from Telangana’s Kumarambheem Asifabad district, where a 14-year-old boy lost his life after a mobile phone battery allegedly exploded while the device was charging. The victim, identified as N. Lokesh, was at his home in Gudem village of Chintalamanepalli mandal when the incident occurred on Wednesday morning. His parents were working in nearby agricultural fields at the time. Neighbours heard the boy’s screams following the explosion and immediately alerted his family.

According to police, the incident took place at around 9:30 am when Lokesh was reportedly using the mobile phone while it was connected to a charger. He sustained severe injuries in the explosion and was rushed to a hospital by his family. However, he succumbed to his injuries while being shifted for medical treatment. The incident has shocked residents of the village, with many expressing concern over the safety of using mobile phones during charging.

Based on a complaint filed by the boy’s father, the Chintalamanepalli police have registered a case of suspicious death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and launched an investigation. Officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the explosion, including the condition of the mobile phone and its battery, to determine the exact cause of the incident. Further investigation is currently underway.
