Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Sunday, July 19, submitted a notice under Rule 267, seeking the suspension of the day’s scheduled business in the Upper House to allow an urgent discussion on the alleged NEET paper leak and the ongoing protest by activist Sonam Wangchuk. In his notice addressed to the Rajya Sabha Secretary-General, Singh described both issues as matters of significant national importance and urged the Chair to permit a dedicated debate. He argued that Parliament should immediately deliberate on concerns surrounding the country’s public examination system and Wangchuk’s demands.

Highlighting the repeated controversies linked to the NEET examination, Singh said they have seriously affected public confidence in the transparency and credibility of India’s competitive examination process. He called for a comprehensive discussion on measures to improve accountability, fairness, and transparency in public examinations to ensure deserving students are not disadvantaged. The AAP leader maintained that Parliament must address these concerns to restore trust in the examination system and prevent similar controversies in the future.

Singh also raised concerns over the health of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on a hunger strike for more than 20 days. Referring to recent developments, he noted that Wangchuk was removed from Jantar Mantar by Delhi Police on Saturday and shifted to Safdarjung Hospital. Singh urged the Rajya Sabha to discuss the issue in view of Wangchuk’s deteriorating health and the wider concerns associated with his ongoing protest, stressing that both matters deserve immediate attention from the House.
